Salamanca, NY
Salamanca holds the unique distinction of being the only US city built almost entirely on land leased from the Seneca Nation of Indians. Historically a vital railroad junction where three major lines intersected, the city is now the cultural and administrative heart of the Seneca Nation. It is home to the Seneca Iroquois National Museum, which preserves the heritage of the "Keepers of the Western Door," and the Seneca Allegany Resort. Recent additions like the professional-grade skate park at Crowley Park highlight its continued evolution as a regional community hub.
