State Game Lands 29 is a massive and rugged public hunting and hiking tract located just west of Warren. Covering over 9,000 acres, it is characterized by its steep, high-elevation ridges and deep, oak-dominated forests. The area is a premier destination for big-game hunting, particularly for white-tailed deer and black bear. It also offers a more primitive and challenging hiking experience compared to the developed recreation areas of the ANF, featuring miles of unmarked service roads and trails that wind through a landscape managed for maximum wildlife diversity and forest health.
