Peanut Rock

Peanut Rock is a uniquely shaped quartz conglomerate sandstone formation located within the Jakes Rocks geological area. Named for its distinct, bumpy texture and narrow "waist," the rock is a favorite landmark for hikers and mountain bikers navigating the surrounding trail system. It serves as a prime example of the "frost wedging" process that has shaped the massive boulders of the Allegheny Plateau over millions of years. The rock is surrounded by deep crevices and ancient ferns, making it a popular spot for photography and bouldering exploration.
