Minister Creek Recreation Area
Rugged boulders and trails in the "Little Alaska" of the ANF.
Often referred to as the "Little Alaska" of the Allegheny National Forest, Minister Creek Recreation Area is famous for its rugged beauty and massive, labyrinthine rock formations. The trail system, which connects to the North Country National Scenic Trail, winds through towering outcrops of quartz conglomerate that create narrow passageways and "rock cities." It is a favorite for backpackers seeking a primitive experience and photographers drawn to the moss-covered boulders and hemlock-shaded creek.
