Loleta Recreation Area
Historic CCC-built swimming hole and hemlock-shaded camping.
Loleta Recreation Area is a nostalgic retreat that preserves the craftsmanship of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Built in the 1930s on the site of a former lumber mill town, the park features a unique swimming hole created by a CCC-built dam on Millstone Creek. Surrounded by towering hemlocks and massive stone walls, the area offers two distinct camping loops and provides a cool, shaded oasis that feels like a step back in time to the early days of American forest recreation.
