Kinzua Village Site

The namesake town of the dam and bridge, now resting beneath the reservoir.

Kinzua Village was once the vibrant heart of the Kinzua valley, serving as a hub for the local timber and tanning industries and a vital stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad. Following the completion of the Kinzua Dam in 1965, the village was completely dismantled and flooded to create the Allegheny Reservoir. Its name remains synonymous with the massive dam and the historic railroad viaduct, serving as a poignant symbol of the industrial prosperity and eventually the human sacrifice required for the region's flood control projects.
