Kinzua Dam Tailwaters
The turbulent, oxygen-rich waters below the dam.
The Kinzua Dam Tailwaters refer to the powerful, oxygen-rich environment immediately downstream of the dam’s discharge. This area is a world-class destination for trophy fishing, as the constant flow of cold, nutrient-dense water from the bottom of the reservoir attracts massive muskellunge, walleye, and northern pike. Anglers from across the country visit the tailwaters to test their skill against these "river monsters." The area features accessible fishing piers and a large parking area, providing a front-row seat to the engineering marvel of the dam and the raw power of the regulated Allegheny River.
