Irwintown Ghost Town

Remnants of a massive 19th-century chemical and lumber hub.

Once a bustling industrial center on the Clarion River, Irwintown is now completely reclaimed by the forest. Hikers can still find the massive stone foundations of the chemical retorts and the old railroad grades. It serves as a haunting reminder of the "transient" nature of the region's industrial past.
