Handsome Lake Campground

Handsome Lake Campground is a secluded, boat-in-only destination located on the eastern arm of the Allegheny Reservoir. The campground is named in honor of the Seneca prophet Handsome Lake (Sago-ye-wat-ha), whose teachings transformed Seneca culture in the early 19th century. Accessible only by water or a steep hike from the Tracy Ridge trail system, it offers primitive sites that provide a profound sense of solitude and a direct connection to the reservoir’s wilderness character.
