Corydon Ghost Town

A historic timber and farming village now submerged beneath the reservoir.

Corydon was once a thriving community situated at the confluence of the Allegheny River and Willow Creek. Established in the early 1800s, it served as a vital center for agriculture and the timber trade. In 1965, the entire village was evacuated and flooded to create the Allegheny Reservoir. Today, it exists as an underwater ghost town, with its foundations and streets serving as a silent reminder of the vanished communities of the Allegheny Plateau.
