Cornplanter Village Site
The historic residential and cultural heart of the Seneca Nation in PA.
The Cornplanter Village was the center of the Cornplanter Tract, the only land in Pennsylvania ever granted to a Native American. Named for the great Seneca leader Chief Cornplanter, it was a symbol of Seneca sovereignty and resilience for generations. Following the construction of the Kinzua Dam, the village site was submerged, leading to the displacement of the Seneca people from their ancestral lands. The site remains a place of profound cultural remembrance and historical significance.
