Blue Shanty

A historic forest crossroads near the reservoir.

Blue Shanty takes its name from a 19th-century timber camp shack that was a well-known landmark for early loggers. Today, it serves as a critical junction for the North Country National Scenic Trail and several forest roads. It is a favored starting point for backpackers heading into the Tracy Ridge Wilderness or toward the reservoir’s eastern coves.
