Allegheny Reservoir

The Allegheny Reservoir was created in 1965 with the completion of the Kinzua Dam, resulting in a 12,000-acre water body with 91 miles of shoreline. Its creation was a point of significant historical conflict, as it flooded the ancestral lands of the Seneca Nation, including the village of Cornplanter. Today, the reservoir is a premier destination for houseboating, sailing, and trophy fishing for musky and northern pike. Its deep, cool waters are surrounded by undeveloped National Forest land, offering a wilderness-like experience unique in the Eastern US.
